Biography


Once upon a time, (well, 1978) deep in the throbbing heart of Mexico City...





There was born a boy who was destined to become wonderfully fascinated by the mysterious world of sound. The muse of music seduced him from the youngest age, wrapping itself around him, revealing to him its secrets, until he was emersed forever in that infinite sea of melody, rocked eternally by its intoxicating rhythms.  


Here is a small selection of the professional experience and qualifications he has gathered so far on his journey...


1994 forms his first rock band with friends and begins to study classical percussion.


1995 starts gigging regularly and teaches himself how to play electric guitar.

1997 his band comes 4th in national heavy rock battle of the bands. He begins teaching percussion.

1999 enroles at the prestigious Academy of Music Fermatta in Mexico City and begins to study jazz. Embarks on a national tour of Mexico with the band Unusual Sickness which lasts 2 years.

1999 records and releases an album with up and coming metal band Unusual Sickness entitled 'Sounds of a Shattered Soul.'



2000 begins to study jazz in earnest and begins to develop a diverse range of performance styles, performing regularly in jazz ensembles around Mexico City. Is a featured performer of original jazz compositions at the National Jazz festival of 2004.


2005 Conceptualizes and organizes a concert "The Happy Rebellion" to raise awareness of the conflict and repression in Atenco, Mexico. This gives rise to his Mig-21 project featuring a collection of compositions written especially for the occasion. The collection is also performed at the Mexican National School of Anthropology and History alongside Mexico's foremost Reggae band, "Los Rastrillos." This triggers a global movement of awareness raising around the Atenco crisis including a Manu Chao concert in Barcelona, and goes on to generate a movement of artists around the world.


Goes on to record the jazz standard "Night and Day", next to the pianist Quique "El Profe Noguez" of the Mexican reggae band Los Rastrillos. (drums)


2006 begins teaching music in primary schools and continues to study jazz under a range of master teachers including Marcus Miller, Meshell N'degeocello, Jeff Berlin, Stanley Jordan, Dave Weckl, Peter Erskine, Antonio Sanchez, Paquito de Rivera, Pat Metheny, Matt Sorum (Guns 'n' Roses), Greg Bissonette, Alex Acuña, Magos Herrera, Armand Sabal-Lecco, Oscar Stagnaro, Arturo Luna and Joey Heredia.

2007 Graduates with a BA (hons) in Performing, Composition and Production from Berklee International Network via Berklee College of Music Boston, Mexico City (Fermatta).

2008 Is invited to become a lecturer at his former academy, The Fermatta at the University of Mexico City where he teaches ear-training (basic and advanced), sight-reading, ensembles, drum (theory and performance) and keyboard skills. 

2010 is featured in a pop video playing the synthesizer for Mexican rock/pop band MINK for their hit song "Sale Sobrando."   The video is released worldwide by WARP Mexico and Telehit. He also plays drums on some dates of their promotional tour for various Mexican TV channels.

2011 leaves Mexico for Europe, heading first for Antwerp, Belgium and playing two dates of 'gypsy jazz' alongside acclaimed Belgian singer/songwriter Silke Van Hoof.


Late 2011-2012 arrives in Ibiza and plays a string of dates at many well-known venues on the island including: Atzarro, Guarana, Bar Locura, Grial, Crystal, Nassau Beach Club, Hostal Salinas and Space Ibiza. He has performed live on both Ibiza Global Radio (High Voltage Radio Show) and Ibiza Sonica (Ibiza Music Network), He assisted to the 1st International Course and Workshop on Audio & Music Processing-3D Audio-Reactable & Reactable Mobile-Speakers, Ibiza, Spain June 2012 At the Ibiza Music Cluster-Conservatori Professional de Música i Dansa D´Eivissa I Formentera. 


Early 2013 Commissioned to compose a classical arrangement of Fatboy Slim´s 'Praise You,' for the Legends dinner at the Ibiza International Music Summit which honoured Fatboy Slim with a lifetime achievement award.  It was performed live at the IMS summit by the choir of Ibiza.
